“How is the theme of fear revealed in poetry?” ReflectionOur team’s essential question was “How is the theme of fear revealed in poetry?” and our aim was to find an answer to or essential question. While trying to find an answer to this question I read so many poems, not just about poems about fear but poems about everything else like love or nature and saw that poem’s theme can be defined by the poet’s usage of tone, structure, rhyme, meter, metaphors, similes, imagery, symbolism etc.
I think to write a good fear poem a poet should usage of symbolism and imagery should be vivid and make the reader feel like they are living in the poem while reading the poem and readers should be scared while reading the poem like the speaker scared while writing it. Readers should be scared because of the atmosphere and setting of the poem are so powerful. Of course different poets fear from different things some can fear from mortality and death some can fear from darkness in fact some can fear from spiders and write about it so their interpretations of describing fear is differ from each other. Some poets can find a solution to their fears in their poems but some can not find a solution. Because this feeling of fear is unique and different for everyone, poet’s way to show their fears to readers are different too. But in describing and showing your fear to the reader important thing isn’t what are you afraid of or can you find a way to overcome that fear but can you reflect that fear to the readers and make them feel that fear with you. So while describing the fear in poems a poet should use images so that the reader can picturize that fear in their minds. |
